March Ride report

Four tandems braved the forecasted storms to meet at the Bay View café on the seafront at Burnham on Sea for the Taunton groups March ride.

The group left at 11am heading north with Philip & Kathy Rahilly leading us through the popular holiday area of Lympsham and Brean. It was a chilly day but mainly the conditions were favourable considering the recent winds and storms. After crossing the main A38 near Rooksbridge the group headed east across the peat moors towards Glastonbury. After a short delay to fix a puncture we finally arrived at Sweets Tearooms for a lunch stop. This cycle friendly cafe is very popular amongst local cycle clubs and the with the welcoming sight of a raging log burner and the great menu selection it is not difficult to see why, a must visit if you cycle in the region. After lunch we set off south initially before turning west and pickup up the benefit of the tailwind back towards Burnham on Sea. The final surprise of the day was a very pleasant last mile along the banks of the local marina. A great route much appreciated by those who turned out despite the weather forecast.

Many thanks to Philip and Kathy for organising such a pleasant day.
